Are You Going to Heaven?

"Am I going to heaven?" Throughout all history, this question has plagued mankind; but you don't have to spend your life searching for an answer. You simply have to understand what the Bible, God's Word, says.

1. We Are All Sinners
Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Everyone, from a pastor to a church attendee, is a sinner. We have all done things that are wrong. Those wrong things are called 'sin'.  Because we're sinners, we're less than perfect, which means that we can't measure up to God's standard of perfection.

2. The Consequence of Sin
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death..."

The payment (wage) of doing bad things is death-- separation from God and an eternity in hell. A good deed does not erase a bad deed. The Bible says that the only payment for sin is hell. God loves us and doesn't want us to go hell, but God can't allow sin to go unpunished. So God did an amazing thing to give us the means of avoiding hell altogether.

3. The Means of Salvation
2 Corinthians 5:21: "For he [God] hath made him [Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, came to this earth and did what we could not do. He lived a perfect life. He knew no sin. Because Jesus Christ was perfect, when the people of the world rejected Him and hung Him on the cross, Jesus Christ willingly and deliberately made a payment for a debt he didn't owe. Jesus Christ had no sin. He had no need to die for his own sin. Therefore, His death paid for your sins! If Jesus Christ paid the wages of death for you, what more do you have to pay? Nothing! Three days after His burial, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, proving that He was God.

4.  Believe in Jesus Christ to be Saved
John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Ephesians 2:8,9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Escaping from hell and gaining a home in heaven is a free gift. This gift is called salvation. But it is a gift that you must accept. How do you accept it? You decide that you can't work your way to heaven and believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you sins and three days later He rose from the dead. When you trust that alone for salvation, then God gives you eternal life-- a home in heaven.

Won't you trust Him today? Won't you accept His gift?
